“It wasn't about the hunting. It was always about the shooting.”
Built Through Precision
It started with his father's shotgun. It ended up becoming a career.
Tihomir Todorov's path to competitive shooting runs through a professional chapter most athletes don't have — years in Bulgaria's National Service for Protection, sharpening precision skills in the Snipers department. That background didn't just build technique. It built the mindset that defines him on the range today: disciplined, patient, and relentlessly focused on where the bullet lands. Long-range competition is now his primary arena — and he competes with the same quiet intensity he brought to everything that came before it.

From First Shots To Long-Range Precision
The Beginning
Tihomir's relationship with shooting started early — his father would hand over his shotgun, and something clicked. At 18, he bought his first hunting rifle. But looking back, hunting was never really the point. It was the shooting itself — the discipline of aiming, the satisfaction of connecting with a target — that became the true passion.
A Professional Chapter
That passion led to a professional career in Bulgaria's National Service for Protection, where Tihomir worked in the Snipers department, developing his skills primarily with pistols under professional conditions. That experience gave him something no competition alone can teach: an understanding of precision as a professional requirement, not just a personal pursuit.
The Long-Range Focus
After his professional chapter, Tihomir turned his full attention to competitive shooting — and specifically to long-range precision. Today it makes up 70% of his shooting activity. The appeal is exactly what drew him in from the start: the technical challenge of putting a bullet where it needs to go, at distances where small errors become large consequences.
Equipment Philosophy
Tihomir's approach to gear is grounded and practical. When starting in long-range shooting, he believed a basic setup is sufficient — the priority is improving skills first, not chasing equipment. That philosophy was tested by early challenges with lower-budget scopes: insufficient clarity, parallax sensitivity issues, and the absence of zero-stop features that long-range shooting demands. Those experiences sharpened his understanding of what quality optics actually deliver — and why they matter.
A Surprising Return to Pistol
Pistol shooting was never Tihomir's first love. That changed when a Sightmark red dot entered the picture. The clarity, the dot size, and the addictive quality of dry fire practice with a responsive sight reignited an interest he hadn't expected. Today pistol shooting sits alongside long-range work as a regular part of his competitive life.
What It Takes
Patience. The willingness to learn from others and from your own mistakes. And the discipline to let accuracy lead before chasing speed.
Precision Through Experience
What It Takes
“The journey of a shooter is never complete. There is always room for improvement — in technique, in equipment, and in learning from others.”
Competition-Proven Sightmark
Tihomir's equipment choices are the result of hard-won experience. Early in his long-range journey, lower-budget scopes created real problems — poor clarity, inconsistent parallax, and missing features like zero-stop that precision rifle shooting demands. That experience made the switch to Sightmark's Presidio 3-18x50 LR2 FFP a significant step forward.
On the pistol side, a Sightmark Mini Shot M-Spec LQD was the sight that reignited his interest in handgun shooting entirely. For rifle and PCC work, he prefers a larger dot to aid centering — a detail that speaks to how closely he pays attention to what works for him specifically.
In the field, the KJI K700 Aluminum Tripod with Reaper Rail has become an essential part of his competition setup — offering the versatility and positional stability that long-range stages demand.
“When it comes to precision at distance, the equipment either supports your skills or works against them. I learned that the hard way.”
